HALSTEAD'S surgery has suspended its morning walk-in service amid Coronavirus concerns.

The Elizabeth Courtauld Surgery on Factory Lane West has halted their Open Access Clinic service as a precautionary measure, despite there being no confirmed cases of the virus in the area.

As of yesterday (March 9), the surgery is instead advising patients without chronic illnesses, regardless of their travel history, to use the NHS's 111 service.

A temporary measure, it is unknown when the surgery will be able to resume its regular service which usually runs every weekday from 8.30am to 10.30am.

If a patient arrives without an appointment during this period, they will be placed in a secondary waiting room, away from chronic patients, where they will be seen to by a designated doctor.

The surgery have stated that they will be unable to make treatment decisions for anyone with Cornonavirus, meaning going to the surgery if you think you have it is a waste of time.

While for the time being the service has been closed, the surgery has confirmed that it will come back and will not be changed during its hiatus.
