A DANCE night to celebrate the 2020 leap year has been cancelled due to a “lack of interest”.
Halstead Town Council was set to hold its Leap Year Dance tonight at the Queens Hall, on Chipping Hill, but organisers were forced to call off the event on Tuesday.
The dance was going to raise funds for Halstead Day Centre, which tackles loneliness and isolation in the over-60s.
It was due to be headlined by the FOD – Fat Old Dad – band, a veteran act of 34 years which has sold out shows at the Halstead Empire Theatre in the past.
In a statement on social media, the council said: “Halstead Town Council regrets that it has had to cancel the Leap Year Dance event due to lack of interest.
“Refunds can be obtained from the council offices at Queens Hall, upon production of a ticket.”
The council office is open weekdays from 9am to 4pm.
