AN online consultation survey for a proposed Clean Air Zone in Bradford is now available online.

The Clean Air Zone aims to improve air quality and the health of people in the district - particularly in the city centre, Shipley and Saltaire where pollution is highest.

If approved, it could see the most polluting HGVs, busses and taxis charged up to £50 a day to enter the clean air zone.

The survey is targeted at citizens, businesses with vehicles, businesses without vehicles, coach and minibus operators, and taxi drivers and operators and can be completed on the Council’s website www.bradford.gov.uk/consultations.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “The Clean Air Zone will lead to air quality improvements across the whole of the Bradford District, saving lives and improving people’s health, particularly amongst our most deprived communities.

Clean air zone plan hailed as 'momentous' step in improving Bradford's health

“We want everyone to comment on the proposals to help shape our plans and maximise the benefits for residents and businesses.”

The scheme is dependent on a £60 million grant from the government that would be used to provide grants to vehicle owners to make these changes.

It follows a "ministerial direction" to Bradford Council from the government in 2018, ordering the reduction in pollution to legal levels as soon as possible.

The consultation runs until March 26.
