A RUNCORN resident is calling on the public for help in finding a catfish a new home after its previous owner could not keep it.

Steve Chester, who runs Premier Aquatics on Heath Business Park, was left with the large fish after a customer decided she could no longer keep him when her fish tank sprung a leak.

"I only opened the shop three weeks ago and on the first week of opening up I had a strange phone call from a woman saying she was due to go out but that her fish tank had sprung a leak and there was water all over her floor," said Steve.

"She then asked me to rescue the large fish and find it a new home."

Being the Good Samaritan, Steve keeps Larry in his house as no tank is big enough in the shop.

Still in shock he added: "I feel that she was in a bad mood that night as it had ruined her night out, but hopefully now we will be able to find someone to rehome the fish.

Having previously worked for Chester Zoo as lead keeper for six years and with sharks he added: "I'm used to dealing with large fish but didn't expect this one,"

All the other fish have been rehomed, but a bigger boat or rather tank is needed for Larry.
