A FRUSTRATED flat resident has told of his 15 month battle to clean up private land blighted by fly-tipping.

From medical gloves and clothes to mattresses and wrapping paper, Jack Rawcliffe has complained three times about the “eyesore” on the private land near Park Road and Reyhill Grove, close to Evans Towers and Buchan Towers.

The council said it is aware there is a problem on Park Road and Reyhill Grove and has held talks with the land owner of the site in recent days.

Bradford Council does own a portion of this land with a spokesperson explaining how it looks after “approximately less than a third of the site”.

But Mr Rawcliffe feels that only “half of the issue” will get solved.

He told the Telegraph & Argus: “There’s not many neighbours around here that care and when you live in a tower block there’s no real contact with neighbours.

“Nothing happens. Nothing ever happens.

“I’m angry. I’m angry because they’re all full of ‘Yes, we’ll take this in hand’, giving more reference numbers.

“They don’t do anything.

“It’s alright sending an email or letter. We have to walk past this eyesore every day.”

Mr Rawcliffe says he had been told a council officer would visit the site last year, around the time he first logged a complaint.

Yet he claims he has not seen council member of staff visit the site, making his plight to clean the area up feel like it will never-end.

“It continues to get worse and nothing appears to be being done,” Mr Rawcliffe added.

“It’s got worse since the storms.”

A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: “Bradford Council is not responsible for clearing fly-tipped rubbish from private land but we work with landowners to help them remove it.

“We are aware of the situation on Park Road and Reyhill Grove and have been liaising with the land owner of the large open site with a view to resolving the issues.

“We would be interested in hearing from anyone who may have witnessed any fly-tipping on this site or anywhere else.

“If you see fly-tipping taking place, please note down as many details as possible, including vehicle licence plate numbers and inform the Council.”

Information about how to report fly-tipping and Bradford Council’s own bulky waste collection service can be found by calling the Council on 01274 431000 or visiting their website.

The size of a fly tip can range from one bag of waste to a lorry load.
