FUNDRAISERS have handed over £270 to charity after a Christmas collection.

Halstead Rotary president Mike Prince presented a cheque to Travel Aid for Parents of Sick Children (TAPS) at the Bull Hotel.

The Halstead charity aims to help parents cover the costs of travel for hospital visits and other medical needs.

The money was raised during the club’s annual Christmas street collection.

Mr Prince said: “TAPS is one of the local charities that the Rotary Club of Halstead has decided to support in this Rotary year.

“Our Christmas collection at the Solar Co-op store in Halstead was dedicated to raising funds for TAPS and thanks to the generosity of the people of Halstead we raised £270.”

TAPS chair and town councillor Jackie Pell was there to receive the donation.

Halstead Rotary is also supporting Halstead Day Centre and the Braintree Area Food Bank this year.
