A HOUSING group has handed over thousands of pounds to its charity of the year.

Greenfields Community Housing chose to raise cash for Farleigh Hospice in 2019, as part of an annual campaign to support good causes.

The charity provides hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across mid Essex, including families, carers and those who are bereaved.

Greenfields was able to raise £4,257 for the hospice through a variety of fundraising events, including a quiz night, pantomime, and an office tuck shop.

Farleigh Hospice's fundraising manager Debbie de Boltz said: "We were thrilled to have been chosen as Greenfields’ Charity of the Year and would like to thank them for the wonderful amount they raised.

"We rely on the local community to help us raise the £6 million needed annually to continue providing free specialist palliative care and bereavement support to those in need.

"With the number of people requiring these services growing every year, the generosity of our supporters in the local community is more important than ever."

Greenfields has selected Essex and Herts Air Ambulance to be its charity of the year for 2020.
