THE police have been called to a farm after what are believed to be human remains were unearthed.

Essex Police are understood to be investigating the situation.

Forensic teams have also been spotted at the the farm which is just off Middleton Road in Middleton near Sudbury.

Residents confirmed a strong police presence at the farm over the last 48 hours.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We were called shortly before 3pm on Wednesday 22 January with reports that what were thought to be human remains were found on land near to Middleton Road, Sudbury.

"Further searches and examinations were carried out and initial indications show that the remains belong to an adult man.

"At this stage, we are not treating his death as suspicious and enquires are ongoing."
