A DRIVER has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a crash on the East Lancs.
Mark Byrne MBE, 58, was killed at the scene of the crash near yesterday, Tuesday, despite the best efforts of paramedics.
A 56-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains.
The East Lancs was closed for much of the day from Glazebury to Kenyon after the collision involving a HGV and a car near the junction with Atherleigh Way.

Florin Solomon, 28, from Worcester has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Bolton Crown Court on Wednesday, February 19.
The road was closed for investigation work but has now been reopened.
