TWO consultants from Halstead have been celebrating a strong year the UK weight loss organisation, Slimming World, by meeting comedian and television host, Alan Carr.

A mainstay of British TV screens, Alan was co-hosting the annual Slimming World awards at the Birmingham International Convention Centre, meeting and chatting with consultants from all around the UK.

Paul Gibbs and Kath Hampshire, both from Halstead, who are consultants for Slimming World that support and organise slimming groups is Colchester and Great Cornard, were celebrating another successful year at the awards.

The organisation first started over 50 years ago and now supports almost one million dieters.

Paul, who runs groups in Shrub End, Colchester, said: "I feel proud of the small part I play in supporting people to achieve their dreams and to celebrate alongside them when they do, so I was honoured to represent Halstead at the Slimming World Awards.

"Alan was left in awe of the difference Slimming World makes to people’s lives too.”

Alan, who is perhaps best know for hosting his popular chat show, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, on Channel 4, was delighted to meet Paul and Kath at the awards.

Alan said: “I met so many people who had transformed their lives and it was clear how much the support they received from their ‘Slimming World family’ meant to them.

"Every one of them spoke passionately about how they couldn’t have made those changes to eat more healthily and become more active without the support of Consultants like Paul, Kath and their group every week.

"I left the awards feeling so uplifted and positive, I wish I could’ve bottled that Slimming World feeling."
