BASILDON United midfielder Tom Anderson is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after picking up two red cards in the space of three days.

Anderson, who joined from Isthmian North rivals Tilbury during the summer, was dismissed in the 3-3 draw with Histon at the weekend.

But, with his suspension not due to come into effect until Saturday’s home clash with Coggeshall United, the midfielder was able to feature in the Bees’ Dereham Town contest on Tuesday.

However, Anderson was sent for an early bath once again after being shown two yellow cards and - following his marching orders - Basildon conceded three late goals to lose 3-0.

Just two minutes after Anderson had left the Cousins Car Wash Stadium pitch, Jake Imrie broke the deadlock for Dereham.

And Toby Hilliard put daylight between the two sides moments later.

Ryan Crisp rounded off the scoring in the dying embers to ensure the Bees were beaten for the first time since Kris Newby was installed as the club’s interim player-manager in December.
