The MANAGER of a popular garage has had his head and beard shaved off for charity.

James Sherwen, centre manager for Kwik Fit on Howard Street, took part in the Great British Hair Off for Children with Cancer UK.

The event was devised as part of the company's attempt to raise over £1m for the charity this year.

James had been growing his hair out for two months in preparation for the shave, and on December 2 it was time to say goodbye to it all as a local barber came in to give James his new look.

Nick Buczynskyj, charity co-ordinator at the branch, said: "I am very proud of James, he has been a great sport, raising over £2300 on behalf of his centre this year.

"Some of the fundraising he has done over the year included a colouring competition for the kids who came into the centre with parents which was judged by the mayor of Bolton, Hilary Fairclough.

"He was heavily involved in our 2019 soccer relief and also part of our tour de branch support team where our staff cycled over 2500 miles across the country raising money for this fantastic cause."

The company has raised over £573,000 so far, from almost 7,500 donations. Fundraising will continue until the end of the year.
