A GOLF club has raised almost £13,000 for a life-saving charity.

The Essex Golf and Country Club, in Earls Colne, raised £12,870 for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance this year.

Members presented a doctor and pilot from the rescue service with the cheque on Monday.

The club raises money each year for different charities, and this year decided to raise funds for the air ambulance.

The money was raised over the year through special golf days.

Former club captain Gavin Childs said: “I think we have done really well. I’m very pleased.

“It brings the club together as well because all the sections of the club come together for one cause.”
