JOHN Coventry fears he will be without recent signing Matt Price for East Thurrock United’s Isthmian Premier League clash with Haringey Borough tomorrow.

Price was forced off with an injury in Rocks’ last-gasp defeat to Bishop’s Stortford in midweek.

It’s the second injury the striker has picked up since joining East Thurrock following his release from Heybridge Swifts last month and Coventry admits he remains a doubt for the weekend.

“Matt took a whack on his knee at Bishop’s Stortford and we had to take him off,” said the Rocks boss.

“There is a lot of swelling and it will take a while to go down, so it’s difficult to say whether he will be able to feature.

“But I would say at this stage that he is extremely doubtful.”

Price has not had a lot of luck since joining Rocks.

The frontman appeared in East Thurrock colours for the first time in the 5-0 friendly win over Hashtag United last month.

Although Price got his name on the scoresheet, he picked up a toe problem.

And on his competitive debut, the former Brentwood Town man suffered his latest setback.

East Thurrock have won two of their last three Isthmian Premier League outings and could move to within a point of the play-off places if they overcome Haringey at the Grayers Graphics Stadium.

“A bit more enthusiasm than we showed at Bishop’s Stortford would go a long way,” added Coventry.

“Individuals showed it, but it has to be done collectively.

“We need to have more desire this weekend.”
