WILTSHIRE Police has confirmed that a ‘threat’ was made against a city centre car park – but nothing suspicious has been found.

Officers were called to the Old George Mall car park at approximately 1pm following the tip off by a member of the public.

The car park was then evacuated while searches were carried out, but nothing was found, the force says.

It has now been reopened.

A statement from Wiltshire Police read: “At approximately 1pm today we were made aware, by a member of the public, of a threat to the [Old George Mall] car park in Salisbury.

“As a result of this information and as a precaution, we evacuated the car park and closed it to the public while extensive searches and enquiries were carried out.

“Enquiries will continue to establish the full circumstances, however, nothing suspicious has been located and the car park is now open again.

“Thank you for your patience during this incident.”
