HARWICH were held to a draw after Fire staged a second-half comeback to gain a deserved share of the points.
The Shrimpers made a good start, scoring in the 12th minute when Kevin Coyle netted direct from a corner that sailed in under the bar.
Harwich were on top and, in the 20th minute, they added a second, which started with some neat build-up play down the left-hand flank and ended with a good finish by Coyle.
Half-time came with Harwich two goals up but having had opportunities to add to their score.
Five minutes after the restart, Daniel Lopez broke through the Harwich rearguard and gave goalkeeper Sam Felgate no chance with his shot for Fire's first.
This inspired the visitors and they certainly didn't look a bottom-of-the-table team as they mounted attacks on the Harwich defence.
The talented Lopez was a livewire, giving the Shrimpers a testing time as he sped down the left-hand side, and, in the 60th minute, he scored Fire's equaliser.
Harwich tried hard to regain the initiative but were off target with their shooting, Coyle volleying high over the bar and the normally-clinical Jordan Heath missing a good chance.
Felgate saved well from Lopez, with Fire looking the more likely to snatch victory in the closing stages.
