A GROUP is seeking new members to help preserve a historic church by keeping it in use.

The Friends of Holy Trinity Church, in Halstead, was formed last October.

The landmark building was closed for worship in the mid Eighties.

A meeting will be held at the church on October 12 from 2pm to 4pm.

The aim is to get more people to join the Friends group so they can develop new uses for the church.

Members of the committee will answer any questions and there will be a display of old photos of the church.

A spokesman said: “We have made good progress over the last year with a small number of dedicated members, but we really do need to increase the number of members to achieve greater things in the future.

“We have had several very successful events in the church but we want to build on that success and encourage more people to make use of the building.

“The overall control of the building is through the Churches Conservation Trust but as long as we stick to their guidelines, we can hold various events there.”

“Please come along and help us to preserve this wonderful church.”
