DETECTIVES are appealing for information and witnesses to come forward after a after a young man was fatally stabbed in Ealing Common.

Police were called at around 6pm yesterday (24) to reports of a fight in West Lodge Avenue, close to Ealing Common.

They found a man, aged 22, suffering from stab injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

One person was arrested on suspicion of affray and is in custody.

Police are confident the victim is Osvaldo Carvalho, of Hanwell. He and two friends are thought to have arrived in the area by car before heading to a small green area, known as Twyford Crescent Gardens.

There was an altercation with another group of men, which resulted in Osvaldo and his friends being chased.

Det Chief Insp Noel McHugh said: “The death of this man will no doubt impact all those who knew him, his family, friends and also the wider community in the area where this attack took place.

“We need those who have information to come forward now. Their information could prove vital to securing justice for the victim’s family.

“My team are busy at the crime scene while forensic analysis and review of local CCTV footage continues apace.

“Did you see anyone in the area before the fatal stabbing? Do you remember seeing or hearing anything as the attacker(s) made off?

“While we retain an open mind, at this early stage there is nothing to suggest this attack is linked to an incident on Hillingdon station or the fatal attack in Southall on Monday.”

Chief Supt Paul Martin said: “This murder will no doubt alarm and concern the community particularly coming so soon after the fatal attack at Hillingdon station on the same day.

"That investigation is being led by British Transport Police.

“I would like to reassure all those who live and work in the area we are doing everything we can to keep you safe.”

A Section 60 order was implemented in Hillingdon and Ealing.
