A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of breaching an order just an hour and a half after receiving it.

The 22-year-old was arrested in Sible Hedingham and remains in custody on suspicion of breaching a Domestic Violence Protection Notice (DVPN).

A police spokesman said: “We gave the man the order at around 11.30am today (Thursday, September 19), following an investigation into an alleged domestic related assault against a woman.

“We then received information at 12.50pm that the man was present at the woman’s address.

“DVPNs can be issued to people if there has been insufficient evidence to charge suspects but we have concerns about the safety of the victims.

“The notices can order the suspects to leave the premises where the incidents occurred, prevent them from entering the homes of the alleged victims and stop them from making any further contact with them, as well as further provisions.”

If you have been a victim of domestic abuse, please call 101 in a non-emergency or 999 in an emergency.
