A RETRO show steeped in nostalgia is set to return to Halstead.

Following the success of a time-travelling music extravaganza that took place last year at a well-loved arts complex Cardy & Coke will make an appearance.

Cardy & Coke is a slightly left-field two-piece armed with acoustic guitars, complimenting vocals, mandolins and a love of country twang and bongos.

They first performed a selection of age-old hits at the Empire Theatre in Halstead last year.

The duo, comprised of Wes Cardy and Jan Mellon, formed in 1986 and now specialise in playing out renditions of vintage tracks from the 50s and 60s.

The Nashville-loving partners, who have played with the likes of Gerry and the Pacemakers, will return to the theatre next week.

This time they will be joined with two additional, complimenting artists on the line-up.

Dubbed as one of the finest female voices currently on the circuit, singer and guitarist Julie Dawn will act as the evening’s penultimate act. She will be covering a range of retro records and showcasing her 25 years of stage experience.

The impressive plucking of bluegrass professional and gifted banjo extraordinaire Kevin Barry, popular as a result of both his playing talents and “warm personality”, will open the evening with a unique medley of genres.

The show will take place on Sunday, September 8 at the Empire Theatre in Halstead and tickets cost £14.

Doors will open at 6.30pm and the event will start at 7pm.
