AN HISTORIC Halstead theatre will take its first foray into both the future and the world of technological advancements tomorrow when it live streams its first concert.

The Empire Theatre, renowned for hosting performances from local arts groups and airing some of the latest cinematic releases, will be showing what is sure to be an overwhelming hometown performance from Dutch violinist and conductor Andre Rieu.

The classical afternoon event, entitled Shall We Dance?, will be beamed live from the beautiful surrounds of Vrijthof Square in Maastricht, Netherlands, which will make for a cinema experience like no other.

Inspired by the famous rhythm of the majestic waltz, Andre, famed for his albums Magic at the Movies and Romantic Paradise, will channel the magic and beauty of the revered dance as he and his Johann Strauss Orchestra, powerful sopranos, talented tenors and an array of special guests wow audience members in both Halstead and across the water.

In addition to the concert, exclusive behind-the-scenes content will be broadcast and an exclusive interview with the globally recognised performer will also be aired.

Empire Theatre vice-chairman Mike George said: “This new venture will hopefully give people the opportunity to open their eyes to a new experience, to come and see ballet or opera and discover something they may not have tried before.”

Tomorrow's performance of Shall We Dance? costs £19 for standard tickets and £16 for concessions.

Doors open at 2.15pm and the show will start at 3pm.
