A CAST of 50 talented children and young adults from Halstead took part in a reworked production of a theatre classic, raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Award-winning dramatic society Abigail’s Performing Arts, based in Halstead, performed a junior musical version of Annie, telling the story of the plucky and charming orphan child’s first adventure around Thirties New York City.
The show, which took place at Braintree Arts Theatre over two nights in front of sold-out audiences, generated more than £500 for Kids Inspire – a charity which helps disadvantaged children.
It means the group has now given more than £5,000 to causes across the county.
Show director Abigail Overall said: “Thank you to all – cast, backstage, front of house crew and audience members – for making Annie Jr a dream come true and raising money for an extremely important charity.”
