A FLYING carpet full of magical talent and wondrous wizardry will swoop into Halstead’s Empire Theatre tomorrow for a reworked performance of one of Disney’s most loved and treasured stories.
The Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy, an independent and award-winning production company founded 15 years ago, has taken on the enchanting sorcery and tale of Aladdin for its latest dramatic junior production.
Directed by Deborah Marks and choreographed by Gemma Field, the theatre school’s latest performance will follow the famous story of street urchin Aladdin and the series of events that transpire after freeing the Genie from its lamp and being magically granted three wishes.
The cast will be made up of budding actors and actresses aged between five and 16, whose year of hard work, lessons and script-studying will culminate with this month’s show.
The Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy’s performance also coincides with the recent release of the Guy Ritchie-directed live action remake of Aladdin, which also stars Will Smith as the cheeky genie, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine and Mena Massoud as the title character in the star-studded blockbuster.
Aladdin Jr comes to the Empire Theatre tomorrow.
There will be a matinee performance at 3pm with doors opening at 2.30pm and an evening showing at 7pm with doors opening at 6.30pm.
Adult tickets are priced £11.50, and concessions are £9.50.
Tickets can be bought online at empire-theatre.co.uk or by calling the theatre box office on 07778 025490.
