A LEFT-FIELD science fiction and fashion movement is celebrated today as a fantasy fair comes to a railway museum.
The Extraordinary Steampunk Fair will pay homage to the quirky and dark culture of Steampunk at an extravagant event hosted by the East Anglian Railway Museum.
Embodying the true and inventive spirit of the Victorian-esque genre, stories of which are usually based in an alternative historic environment featuring steam-powered machinery, vintage clothing and anachronistic technology, the festival will feature a variety of Steampunk-inspired attractions and activities.
Sound-tracked by the interesting music of Ichabod Steam and his Animatronic Band, the day will include a Steampunk-themed market selling eccentric gadgets and gizmos, and age-old steam trains and wagons set against the station’s Victorian architecture and mind-boggling escape rooms.
The Viaduct Tavern miniature pub will also be open, selling bottled ales, unusual ciders, wines and other alcoholic and soft beverages.
An Extraordinary Steampunk Fair takes place today from 10am to 4.30pm at Chappel and Wakes Colne Railway Station.
Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for children aged between 4-15 and under-fours can get in for free.
