A KNIFE-WIELDING robber took cash from store staff then tried to threaten a driver to get away.
Police were called to the Co-op store in Rose Green Road, Bognor, at 5.45pm on Monday.
The man had gone into the shop and robbed the staff there at knifepoint.
He stole money from the till, but no staff were hurt during the incident.
Then he tried to threaten a driver at knifepoint in Osborne Way.
But police say a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Alex Lowe said: "Uniformed officers responded quickly to the scene and were able to arrest a suspect shortly afterwards.
"However we would like to hear from any witnesses who saw the robbery in the Co-op or the attempt to stop the car driver in Osbourne Way."
Witnesses can report information to Sussex Police online or on 101 by quoting reference 1187 of 15/07.
