‘WARM and positive’ staff have been recognised for their hard work improving a nursery.

Cheeky Monkeys in Earls Colne has been rated ‘good’ by education watchdog Ofsted.

The day nursery at the Earls Colne Golf and Country Club was previously told it ‘required improvement’ following an inspection in 2017.

Nursery manager Laura Sines said: “We are generally delighted with the outcome, the girls have worked really hard and the whole team work really hard to make the improvements.”

The nursery added a new classroom for two to three-year-olds which helps aid the transition from babies to pre-school.

“We are also following the curiosity approach where children use less plastic, more natural and authentic resources.” Laura added.

“The Ofsted team found it promoted curiosity and gave them the skills needed for school.

“I’m really proud of the whole team, even the parents who have been using our home learning sheets.

“All the little things came together for this result.

“It feels amazing, were really pleased.”

The latest report states: “The manager and her dedicated staff team have worked meticulously to address the actions and recommendations set at the previous inspection.

“They have focused on improving standards and driving quality higher.

“Children are settled and happy at this friendly nursery.

“The relationships between children and staff are warm and positive.”

Laura said this is a huge leap in progress since last year’s Ofsted report on the nursery, which stated: “Although some improvements have been made in the nursery, the quality of teaching is not consistently strong.”
