HUNDREDS of visitors attended the Aldham Old Time Rally in White Colne on Sunday.

The fun day is organised entirely by unpaid volunteers from the North East Essex Tractor and Engine Club and the Earls Colne Scout and Guide Group.

The event showcases a number of different vehicles from traditional tractors from the 20th century and military vehicles used on the front line, to 170 vintage and classic cars and around 40 motorcycles.

This year was the 41st show, which organisers say smashed attendance figures.

Mark Dutton, safety officer, said: “The first day we had an average attendance, but the second day has broken all records of attendance with the weather being considerably better.

“All the traders and visitors seemed to go home with a smile on their face.”

Over the course of the weekend more than 3,000 people came to the event, with 840 paying to see the attraction on Saturday and a record-topping 1,500 on Sunday.

“Next year is going to be bigger and better and the dates are set for June 6 and 7,” added Mr Dutton.

“We have plans to have more diverse exhibits as well so that’s how we want to expand.

“It’s a local show for local people and we thank everybody for coming along and supporting us.”
