A NUMBER of gardens will be opening to the public this weekend.

On Sunday Colne Engaine will be hosting an open garden event between 10am and 4pm.

Green-fingered locals will be opening more than 15 country and cottage gardens for people to visit alongside the Donkey Sanctuary and village allotments.

There will be a variety of refreshments and stalls in a number of the gardens, together with Hadley’s ice cream on sale.

Tickets are £5 per adult and are available from the Colne Engaine shop, Fork Andles in Earls Colne and Ziel in Earls Colne.

On the day visitors can also buy tickets at Colne Engaine village green.

Stunningly designed gardens will also be open for viewing in Lamarsh on Sunday.

Daws Hall Gardens and Nature Reserve will be open with one of the largest collections of old-fashioned roses in East Anglia which are all labelled.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to walk through a field of wildflowers and see many rare and unusual trees and shrubs.

Tickets are £6 for adults and £2 for children over the age of five and visitors can enjoy cream teas for a break after browsing the gardens. Parking for this event is free.
