A SHOP worker got herself in a sticky situation to raise hundreds of pounds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Zoe Boston, 26, spent Saturday sitting in a pool of slime at the Original Factory Shop in Halstead.

The store is raising funds for the charity throughout May as part of its 50th birthday celebrations.

Zoe, who works at the store, has raised £330.

She said: “It was a surreal experience.

“I expected it to be a bit like water but it was much denser.

“When it was poured over my head, everything became really muffled and I couldn’t hear anything – it smelled nice though!”

Zoe offered shoppers the chance to pour slime over her head on the day in return for a donation to the cause.

She said: “My manager Jacqui and the team in the store were absolutely fantastic, helping me set up and networking on my behalf.

“She even contacted the mayor of Halstead, so he poured slime over me.

“Jacqui was the first to pour slime on me and my partner Matt and daughter Abigail came to show their support.” Zoe had planned to stay in the bath of slime for three hours, but had to get out after an hour and three quarters because it was too cold.

She said: “You have to mix the slime powder in with warm water, but it didn’t stay warm for long.

“My colleagues kept bringing warm water and pouring it into the pool for me, and they made me lots of cups of tea.

“I didn’t think it would be as cold as it was. I think if the weather had been warmer, it would have been OK.”

Despite the cold, Zoe said the experience was worthwhile after raising hundreds for the charity, although next time she says she might do a fun run instead.

She added: “I’m glad I did it but I think once is enough.”
