Greenstead Green is blighted by speeding cars.
The real and present risk to life was rammed home to me this week.
A vehicle hit a young deer and was left to bleed to death in the road near my home.
I picked her up and laid her in a quiet, sunny corner of an adjacent field. I prayed as she drew her last breath.
I left trembling at the callousness of her killing and the senselessness of her death.
Dear reader, if you strike an animal please call the RSPCA, who will attend and help. And slow down. Preserve life. It could be ended in a moment, animal or human.
