A PLANNING bid has been handed in for a brand new 'business centre' on a piece of disused land on the outskirts of a village.

Up to 18 offices could be constructed on the land off Boars Tye Road, in Silver End, behind the Old Slaughterhouse if the plans get the green light.

The site is currently used as storage space by the owner, but planning documents show they want to build two single storey office buildings for small start-up companies.

Plans include 40 car-parking spaces and according to the application 'the roof pitch of the two buildings will reflect the traditional Essex barn vernacular of 45 degrees.'

The designer statement reads: "The proposed scheme presented within the application will provide a total of 18 much-needed office based units to an area of Essex that is currently witnessing an increase in residential development.

"The scheme provides a sympathetic approach to a parcel of land which is currently under used, providing architectural features that relate to the immediate context of the site."
