AN appeal has been launched to reunite a man in his eighties with his long lost niece.

Bert Carrington, 86, is longing to hear from his relative after losing contact with her in the late 1980s.

His niece Maureen, who was formerly also a Carrington, moved to Sible Hedingham from Dagenham in the 1970s.

Mr Carrington, who lives in Saffron Waldon, said the pair lost contact after the move when her mother passed away.

He said he does not know what Maureen’s surname is now and expects she is between 56 and 58 years old.

He said: “I am trying to find my niece because my mother had 11 children between 1925 and 1945, ten of which reached adulthood.

“It now transpires that I am the only survivor of that 11 so I thought that it would be nice to see or hear of her.”

Mr Carrington recalls his niece marrying a Scottish man and believes the pair had two children.

“They came to live in Sible Hedingham because her husband got a job at Rippers Woodwork,” he said.

“I believe Maureen used to work in a bank in Sible Hedingham and her mother came from London to Sible to be near them.”

Mr Carrington is reaching out to his niece to get in touch or if anyone knows where she may be.

He added: “Please get in touch with your uncle Bert.”
