AN airfield museum is opening its doors for the first time this year on Sunday.
The Ridgewell Airfield Commemorative Museum, on Oaker Bridge, in Halstead will be open from 11am showcasing some of its new displays.
The museum is displaying a number of exhibits and a timeline detailing Ridgewell’s life as Essex’s only long-term heavy bomber airfield as part of the growing private collection celebrating the life and times of the British and American servicemen and women that were stationed there.
Admission is free and there will be opportunities to take guided tours of the airfield for a small donation.
The museum is holding five other open days during the year between May and September.
Further dates this year they are May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11 and September 8.
All the dates are Sundays.
