A CONTINGENT of eight Halstead and District Photographic Sociey members checked the tide tables before heading to Mersea for our annual competition – and what a close fought contest it was.

In Round 1 (Projected Digital Images), Mersea took an early lead, scoring high and won the first 10 of the match, but Gill Beckett immediately equalled this with her delightful Crosby Beach.

Mersea got a second 10, then Puffin with Sand Eels by Tori Andrews gave us our second 10 too.

At the end of the round of 12 entries apiece, Halstead were one point ahead having 96 to the 95 of Mersea.

Round 2 (Colour Prints) again saw some excellent entries from both clubs.

Ghostly Boats by Brian Fleming scoring the first 10 of the round, then Mersea got

two 10s in close succession, countered by two from Halstead, Tori Andrews’ stunning prints Andulasion Stallion and Dalmation Pelican giving us three.

The standard of entries throughout was very high with some quality images being produced – there was very little between the clubs but at the end of this round Mersea scored 100 points to

Halstead’s 103.

At the end of a very enjoyable evening there were only four points of separation – Mersea

195 – Halstead 199.
