CARE home residents have been putting their knitting skills to good use for newborn babies.

Residents at Colne View care home in Halstead have crafted more than 20 hats which they have donated to Colchester Hospital to keep newly born babies’ heads warm.

They also delivered cupcakes to midwives at the hospital when they visited to see their handiwork being put to good use.

Colne View manager Razvan Stanbeca said: “The knitted hats have been a huge success and it’s wonderful to be able to support Colchester Hospital and the important work they do.

“The synchronisation and relaxed focus required for knitting makes it the perfect activity to relieve stress and improve motor and brain functions.

“We’re delighted that the hats were so well received by the hospital.

“The residents really enjoyed knitting them and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to get involved with the local community and help a great cause.”
