A BRIGHT spark is set to head off to one of the world’s top universities.
Tilly Wigan, 17, from Halstead, has received an offer from Cambridge University to read modern foreign languages.
Tilly says her interest in languages began at a young age when she lived in Paraguay.
Her bilingual grandfather switched between two tongues fluidly, which is what inspired the teenager to want to study more about how languages connect and develop.
Tilly is studying Spanish, French and psychology A Levels at Felstead School.
Tilly said: “I have had so much support from everyone at Felsted, especially the Modern Foreign Languages department who have really helped me improve my confidence and prepare for my interview.”
She went on a trip to Uganda last summer, where she helped improve learning for the children at Felsted’s partner school, Great Lakes High, through the Teach Uganda charity scheme.
