YOUNG farmers have been doing their bit for the planet to raise money for Diabetes UK.
The Halstead Young Farmers Club spent their Sunday travelling around Halstead and the surrounding villages collecting locals used Christmas trees.
The group then were then responsible for ecologically recycling the trees for a donation to the charity.
Ben Hopkins, who organised the tree collection, said: "We had three teams out collecting around Halstead, Hedingham, Sudbury and the surrounding villages.
"Most of our leads came from sharing our collection poster on Facebook and from word of mouth.
"We were asking for a donation of £5 so including sales of the Xmas Trees in December we will be proudly writing a cheque of at least £547.60 to DiabetesUK.
"Thank you everyone that has supported Halstead Young Farmers Club. We are looking ahead in 2019 to help the local community and raise even more money for charity."
