HALSTEAD Fire and Rescue Service are urging people to sweep their chimneys before using them.
This is following a a chimney fire in Belchamp St Paul at around 5.45pm on Saturday.
The station took to Facebook to spread the message: "We were called to a chimney fire along with 1 appliance from Suffolk, we used a Thermal imaging camera to determine where the fire was, we then used chimney rods to knock it to ground level to extinguish.
If you have an open fire remember to get it swept before first use. This will reduce the chance of us visiting you."
