GREENSTEAD Green enjoyed their first ever Christmas Bazaar on Sunday.

Following the success of the village Summer Fete earlier on this year, residents decided to put on a traditional Christmas Bazaar with all proceeds going to St James Church and towards the restoration of the village hall.

Julie Kemp, who is one of the organisers, said: "There was a small parade from St James Church which started with a blessing from vicar Katy.

"Santa was joined by elves and his reindeers and watched by numerous people they walked to his grotto in the village hall.

"We were entertained by our magician Gavin Davey, Christmas singing from Abigail's Performing Arts School, lots of stalls and traditional games.

"Everyone had a fabulous time.

"What we offer in the village is good old fashioned fun and a great community spirit, everyone definitely left with that Christmas feeling."

Through all the fun the Bazaar raised £725.10 towards the church and the village halls restoration.

Julie added: "We will definitely will be doing it again next year but bigger due to it's success.

"The village hall is limited for space so I think other things will be happening in the village to make it Christmas in Greenstead Green."
