LAST calls are being made for Christmas bag donations for the elderly.

Bailey Skingle, who is 13 years old, decided he wanted to do something for the elderly over Christmas.

This is the second year the pupil from Hedingham School has spread festive cheer by collecting Christmas gifts for the residents at Forest Home care home in Sible Hedingham.

Last year Bailey, his sister Destiny Skingle, age 9, and cousin Devon Oliver, age 12, delivered a Christmas box to each resident at Forest Home, dressed as elves.

Lynda Clark, Bailey's mum, said: "They were over the moon with their presents last year, their faces lit up as some don't even see anyone."

Bailey, Destiny, and Devon, are collecting Christmas bags this year to make it easier for the residents with restricted movements.

The selfless trio will be delivering the presents on December 19 this year, in their elf costumes.

Proud mum Lynda added: "We as a family are super proud of Bailey for once again going that extra mile to bring Christmas cheer to all.

"We think it's lovely that for children of their ages Bailey, Devon and Destiny wish to celebrate Christmas by not only receiving presents but by gifting these special bags.

"Bailey's nan from Castle Hedingham has actually sat and hand crocheted 28 lap blankets so each resident has something personal, along with 28 handmade Christmas cards.

"We have received many words of praise for children that are not thinking of themselves, but how they can bring a smile or two for others.

"Moving forward I believe this will now become a yearly tradition."

Lynda has suggested items such as: powder, smellies, face cloths, bed socks, chocolates, sweets, biscuits, tooth brushes, tooth paste, tissues, puzzle books, bars of soap, gloves and anything else that you would like to donate will make perfect Christmas bag fillers for the children to donate.

So far they have collected 18 bags and are hoping to receive another 10 to have one for each resident.

The deadline to donate a Christmas bag is on Monday.

Bags marked as "Christmas bags for Pamela" can be delivered directly to Forest Home care home along Swan Street in Sible Hedingham.
