I WAS absolutely appalled to read and see the injuries a lady received through no fault of her own on a street in Witham (Times, November 29).
So Essex County Council, are you saying you are waiting for an accident to occur, then you will inspect, log it, allocate the correct priority and repair it in a timescale accordingly?
This is appalling treatment.
If you have a duty to ensure taxpayers’ money is spent responsibly then surely no taxpayer is going to complain for compensating this lady at least for the cost of her glasses.
Thank goodness no other serious injuries were received resulting in a long stay in hospital mending broken bones.
