Biology students from Hedingham School studied ecosystems by wading into the River Stour.
A total of 26 A level biology students from the school’s sixth form spent a day at Daws Hall Centre for Environmental Education in Lamarsh, near Sudbury.
The nature reserve was established in 1981.
The students explored a variety of different ecosystems, identified plants in the meadow and sampled their distribution with quadrats, a frame used to study a small area.
Leader of biology, Rupert Sanders, said: “We have an excellent group of Year 13 biology students who threw themselves really enthusiastically in the day’s activities.
“Many of the students are aiming to follow biology related courses at university and the field trip provided some really useful practical experience in ecological techniques.”
