A burst water main caused delays in Halstead town centre.
The leak sprung up in Head Street yesterday evening.
A fire engine from the Halstead Station stopped to assist after spotting the leak on its way back from a field fire in Belchamp St Paul.
Passing traffic was delayed whilst engineers worked to repair the leak.
Anglian Water completed repairs at around 2.20am this morning, however some customers' water supplies may remain cloudy or discoloured.
