A festival held in memory of a talented musician who was killed in a car crash is set to return on the strip of land which was purchased to fulfil his lifelong dream.

CozFest 2018 - in honour of Gosfield man Coz Powell, 21, who died with his friend James Simmons, 18, when a driver high on drugs and drink ploughed into the car he was driving in December 2014 - will take place this September.

The drunk driver, David Bradley, from Braintree, also died at the scene of the tragic crash.

This year’s event will take place on the land where his family hope to build a survival course and camping area in honor of Coz’s favourite pastimes.

The family paid about £50,000 for the land, primarily raised through fundraising.

Gennie Powell, Coz’s mother, said: “This year sees the return of our open air festival on the land you helped us buy.

“We are so pleased that CozFest has found it’s new home and plan to make it bigger and better every year.

“We are kicking off with a family fun day at 11am with lots to do and see including a petting zoo, bouncy castle, healing tents and live music throughout the day.

“As the sun goes down, the party starts with more live music from aspiring bands both old and new.

“Bring a tent and stay the night.

“See the summer out in style and join us in remembering Coz and all he stood for.”

CozFest takes place on Saturday, September 8.
