A sweet shop has been robbed in broad daylight.

Essex Police is investigating after hundreds of pounds were snatched from a till inside Piccadilly newsagents, off Trinity Street in Halstead.

Two men are understood to have entered the shop around 1pm today.

One approached the till to pay for a drink however when the cashier opened the till, a second man went behind the counter and pushed her away before taking the cash and fleeing.

The female cashier was left shaken but did not suffer any injuries.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Both suspects were described as white and aged in their mid 20s to early 30s.

“One wore a cream baseball cap, black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down the side.

“The second wore a black hooded top, black baseball cap and light blue jeans.”
