A NEW era will begin at a town centre salon which is set to come under new management - but it will still be a family affair.

Abi Cutter, 24, will take over the reigns of Jon Cutter, in Halstead, from her father Julian at the start of next month.

The name of the salon will change to Cutters, and a new sign has been put up, but Abi says she doesn’t want to change much else at the Head Street favourite.

She said: “There won’t be any big changes to what is already here - I just want to modernise things a bit.

“I’m really looking forward to it because it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

“I started working here when I was 12 doing things like shampooing and I’ve worked my way up to this point.”

Her father, Julian, took control of the business from his father Jonathon, who originally set-up it up back in 1982.

Since then it has been grown to have six salons in total - three of which are in Halstead (Cutters, The Cutting Shed and Julian Cutter) and one in Braintree.

Mr Cutter said: “I’ve got no doubt she will be absolutely fine - I’m looking forward to being told what to do.”

“I’ll still be working at the salon but I’ll be spending time at the others too.”
