Dog walkers will be hoping it’s third time lucky after a new date for the popular Heli Hounds event was announced.

The walk has already had to be rescheduled twice before after severe weather forced its postponement back in March.

Organisers had hoped to hold the event in May, however a new date of Sunday, June 17 has been announced.

The walk, which will be held on Fathers Day, will now take place from Great Notley Country Park, rather than the originally planned start at the air ambulance base in Earls Colne.

Heli Hounds is run by Essex and Herts Air Ambulance in order to raise some much needed funds.

Events manager Fay Boissieux said: “We are looking forward to seeing as many of our four-legged friends and their owners as possible. Great Notley Country Park is a lovely place to visit. As it is Father’s Day, we are hoping that families will take the chance to enjoy the great outdoors with Dad and man’s best friend.

“We are delighted have found a new date for this event, which is popular with dogs and their owners alike.

“We will be in touch with those who have already registered with full details.”

Hundreds of pooches and their owners turn out to the Heli Hounds event every year to show their support for the air ambulance.

Dog owners who pre-register for the event can do so for £5, with tickets on the day costing £7.50. Registration on the day opens at 9.30am and the walk begins at 10.30am.
