A dedicated volunteer has spoken of how working with Halstead Foodbank has changed his life.
Barry Everett, of Great Yeldham, is a manager at the Halstead branch of Braintree Area Foodbank.
Mr Everett, who is a Greenfields Community Housing tenant, has been volunteering since 2012 and he now oversees the Halstead branch.
He said: “Although I had, had my own personal problems previously, it put into perspective the degrees of hardship that some people face on a daily basis, consequently minimising my own problems.
“Volunteering at the foodbank was a saviour for me, in that it put into perspective how many people’s lives are so badly affected by circumstances that they have had no control over, in the majority of cases.”
Sadly, Mr Everett admits the foodbank remains very busy and thanked he community for its support.
Last year Greenfields and Braintree Council donated £30,000 to the foodbank
