A man has been arrested in connection with a burglary where thieves stole £40,000 worth of items from a family home.

A 23-year-old man from Felsted was arrested on Friday and remains in custody in relation to the incident which occurred in Swan Street, Sible Hedingham on Monday, January 29.

Following the raid three men reportedly fled the scene in a blue Audi holding bags stuffed with jewellery and designer clothes.

Two days after the burglary, a blue Audi S1 was reportedly stopped by a police stinger on Head Street, Halstead, however it is not clear if this was the same vehicle.

Following the incident Essex Police issued a statement warning residents to be on the lookout for a vehicle with flat tyres which was believed to have later been dumped in the Halstead area.

During the burglary the home of Jon and Vicky Oakley, and their daughters, was ransacked.

Mr Oakley has offered a reward for information leading to the conviction of the culprits.
