A trio of apprentices have picked up all three podium places at an awards ceremony.

Jamie Matthew, Jonathan Barnard and Joshua Ayling finished in the top spots at the South East Regional final of the EEF Manufacturing Awards.

All three are apprentices at Braintree Precision Components in Blackwell Drive and are studying at Colchester Institute as part of their apprenticeship.

Jamie picked up first place with Jonathan second and Joshua third.

As the winner Jamie will now proceed to the National Apprentice of the Year final.

He was thrilled to win the award alongside his colleagues and said: “I’m delighted to have been named regional winner.

"I’m only at the start of my career but already I know I am doing something that I enjoy and winning this will motivate me even further.

“I hope that others can see my success and are inspired to take up a career in manufacturing too. I can’t wait to meet the other winners at the national final and to see how I get on.”

The EFF Manufacturing Awards recognise the very best in the manufacturing industry at the moment.
